hey Tony Abbott, Scott Morrison, we invited Refugees to come here

We invited refugees to come here, from ‘across the seas’! We put out the all-welcome mat.

The national anthem that most people know is only the first verse.

Verse 1
Australians all let us rejoice,
For we are young and free;
We’ve golden soil and wealth for toil;
Our home is girt by sea;
Our land abounds in nature’s gifts
Of beauty rich and rare;
In history’s page, let every stage
Advance Australia Fair.
In joyful strains then let us sing,
Advance Australia Fair.

However, there is a second verse, which we seem to sing a little less frequently:

Verse 2
Beneath our radiant Southern Cross
We’ll toil with hearts and hands;
To make this Commonwealth of ours
Renowned of all the lands;
For those who’ve come across the seas
We’ve boundless plains to share;
With courage let us all combine
To Advance Australia Fair
.

In joyful strains then let us sing,
Advance Australia Fair.

  1. He probably thinks God Save the Queen is still the national anthem.

  2. Loved Keating’s view of Phoney Tony Abbott — ‘a dumb obstructionist capuchin’. A bit denigrative of the little monkey, but there you go! Keating on the mark — again!
